Kakapo
Open-source ambient sound mixer
Kakapo provides a configurable ambient‑sound environment for relaxation or productivity. Users can mix multiple audio tracks, adjust volumes, and create personalized soundscapes through a graphical interface that runs both as a web page and as a native desktop application for macOS and Windows.
The application is built with Electron to package the web stack for desktop, while React renders the UI and Redux with Redux‑Sagas manage state and side effects. Audio playback is handled by Howler.js, and functional utilities from Ramda support the codebase. Internationalisation is provided via ReactIntl, and styling is processed with PostCSS and bundled by Webpack, which also enables hot module replacement during development.
Installation is available through a direct download, Homebrew‑cask, or by cloning the repository and running npm commands. The project includes automated testing with Jest and Enzyme, and continuous integration reports coverage through Coveralls.
