Keila provides a self‑hosted solution for creating and sending email newsletters, offering the core capabilities of campaign management, sign‑up form creation, and contact list handling. Users can compose messages with a visual block editor, Markdown, MJML, or plain‑text formats, and the system supports both small‑scale sending through a personal SMTP inbox and larger volumes via services such as AWS SES, SendGrid, Mailgun, and Postmark.

The platform includes analytics that track opens, clicks, and other engagement metrics while allowing users to disable tracking for stricter privacy. Form building features let administrators add custom fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns, and bots can be mitigated with captcha protection and double‑opt‑in links. An API enables extensibility and integration with other tools.

Keila is distributed under the AGPL‑3.0 license, is free of subscription fees, and can be deployed via Docker or Docker Compose. It targets individuals, small teams, and organizations that need a reliable, privacy‑focused newsletter service without vendor lock‑in.
