Lancache
LAN Party game caching made easy.
Lancache provides a self‑hosted caching layer for game downloads on LAN parties. By running the Docker containers – a monolithic cache, a DNS resolver, a Sniproxy proxy and a generic cache – the system intercepts game client requests, stores the files after the first download, and serves subsequent requests from the local cache. This reduces bandwidth usage and speeds up the availability of game files for multiple participants sharing the same network.
The software is aimed at LAN organizers, hobbyist network admins, and anyone hosting multiplayer gaming events who want to minimize external traffic and improve download times without relying on external services. It runs on any platform that supports Docker, and the configuration can be started with a few commands and environment variables, after which the router is pointed to the Lancache‑DNS service.
Lancache is released under the MIT license, is free of subscription fees, and is maintained as an open‑source project. The codebase is considered stable and includes documentation for both the monolithic container and the individual components, with community support available through a website and a support page.
