Last Window Quits
Automatically quit apps when their last window is closed
The tool runs in the background on macOS and monitors every window‑closing event, regardless of whether the user clicks the red button, uses a keyboard shortcut, or triggers another closure method. When the final window of an application is closed, the program automatically quits that app, freeing memory that would otherwise be occupied by idle processes. A configurable blacklist lets users keep selected applications running even after their windows disappear, and a short timer (default two seconds) can delay quitting to avoid premature termination of transient windows such as splash screens.
All actions are recorded in plain‑text logs, indicating which windows were closed and whether the corresponding app was terminated by the utility. The application can be set to launch at login, run silently in the background, and be temporarily disabled when needed. It is distributed as a free cask via Homebrew and supports macOS 10.13 and later, with a known incompatibility on macOS 15 (Sequoia) due to a system notification bug.
