LidAngleSensor
Utility to display the lid angle and play a creaking sound
The utility reads the built‑in lid angle sensor on supported MacBook models and displays the current opening angle in a simple window. It can also emit a wooden‑door creaking sound when the lid is moved very slowly, a behavior that can be disabled through the interface.
It is intended for macOS users who have a MacBook with a hardware lid‑angle sensor—primarily the 2019 16‑inch MacBook Pro and newer Intel‑based models. The program does not work on M1/M2 Macs without modification, and it has been reported to function on iMacs as well. Users can install it via Homebrew, and building from source requires Xcode.
The source includes a hard‑coded sensor identifier for the author's M4 MacBook Pro, and a diagnostic script is provided for troubleshooting on other hardware. Audio playback uses a sound effect from LEGO Batman 3, and the project is open to contributions through its GitHub repository.
