Loungy

Application launcher

Source

Loungy is an application launcher for macOS that combines quick app startup with a set of utility tools. It offers a searchable interface for launching installed programs, performing calculations—including unit, currency, and date conversions via Numbat—managing running processes, searching macOS menus, handling clipboard history, listing Tailscale peers, and viewing Bitwarden passwords. Optional features such as clipboard, Tailscale, Bitwarden, and Matrix support can be enabled at build time, and the pre‑built binary includes the clipboard integration.

The launcher is built on GPUI, a GPU‑accelerated framework for Rust, and can be installed from a downloadable DMG or via Homebrew. Users can rebind the activation hotkey through the root search interface, though the current implementation relies on GPUI’s limited raw keycode handling. Accessibility support is still experimental, and multi‑display window positioning may be imperfect.

Although development has paused, Loungy remains stable and functional on macOS, with early experimental support for Linux that requires additional dependencies and lacks many macOS‑specific features. The project leverages several open‑source components, including Numbat for calculations, Lucide for icons, and the Catppuccin theme for visual styling.
