Moonlight
GameStream client
Moonlight is an open‑source client that implements NVIDIA’s GameStream protocol, allowing users to stream the full Windows desktop and PC games from a gaming PC to a wide range of devices. It can deliver video at up to 4K resolution with HDR, and supports frame rates of 120 FPS, with optional V‑Sync disabling for lower latency. Users can host their own streaming server on a home network or over the internet using port forwarding, IPv6, or virtual network services such as ZeroTier and Tailscale.
The client runs on macOS, Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, Android, iOS, Apple TV, Xbox, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, Raspberry Pi, and LG webOS TVs, among other platforms. By leveraging the same protocol used by NVIDIA Shield, Moonlight enables remote gameplay without sacrificing the graphics quality or game library available on the host PC.
Moonlight’s code is released under the GPLv3 license on GitHub, encouraging community contributions and ports to additional hardware. The project is maintained by volunteers and contains free of ads, bundled services, or paid tiers.
