Mopidy
Extensible music server. Offers a superset of the mpd API, as well as integration with 3rd party services like Spotify, SoundCloud etc.
Mopidy is a Python‑based music server that runs on Linux, macOS and Raspberry Pi. It streams audio from local files, internet radio, and third‑party services such as Spotify and SoundCloud, while exposing a superset of the MPD protocol for control. Clients that understand MPD—including mobile, tablet and desktop applications—can connect to the server to browse, queue and play music.
The system is built around an extensible core, allowing developers to add new front‑ends, back‑ends and audio‑output modules via extensions. Documentation covers installation, configuration, command‑line usage and API reference, and a community forum and Zulip chat provide support and development discussion.
Mopidy is released under the Apache 2.0 license, is free of subscription requirements, and is packaged for a range of Linux distributions as well as macOS. Its stable, open‑source nature makes it suitable for users who want a self‑hosted, customizable music playback solution.
