mStream

Music streaming server with GUI management tools. Runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

The software provides a self‑hosted music streaming server that doubles as a file manager. Users can place audio files in a watched folder, upload through a web interface, or add YouTube links, and the tracks become available for immediate playback without a library scan. The server streams files directly from disk via a static route, preserving the original folder hierarchy and allowing instant browsing, renaming, and downloading.

A desktop client delivers the web UI as a native window, while the server can run as a tray‑resident application on Windows, macOS, and Linux, or be deployed headlessly with a Docker image or npm install. It supports public‑mode access without accounts, granular write permissions, multi‑user accounts, Subsonic API compatibility, DLNA/UPnP casting, on‑the‑fly transcoding, and server‑side audio playback.

The project is open source under GPL‑3.0, free of subscription or tier limits, and aims to let individuals host their own ad‑free, privacy‑preserving music cloud across devices.
