Notesnook
Privacy-focused note taking app
Notesnook is a note‑taking application that stores all content with end‑to‑end encryption, ensuring that data remains private both on the device and in the cloud. It encrypts information before it leaves the user’s hardware, applies encryption at rest by default, and locks the note database automatically, so even a lost or stolen device cannot reveal the contents. The app also offers an optional app lock for additional protection.
The software synchronizes encrypted notes across desktop, web, and mobile platforms, allowing users to access their information from any device while preserving the zero‑knowledge model. Features include bidirectional linking between notes, web clipping, tagging, and the ability to share encrypted notes with others without exposing the underlying data.
Because the code is open source, the implementation of privacy and security can be inspected and contributed to by the community. The focus on strong privacy, transparent development, and cross‑platform availability makes it suitable for anyone who wants a private, self‑contained workspace for personal or professional notes.
