Routr

Routr implements the core SIP server functions of proxy, registrar, and location service, offering a lightweight and reliable foundation for telephony carriers, communication service providers, and system integrators. It supports standard SIP transports—including TCP, UDP, TLS, WebSocket and Secure WebSocket—and can store routing and registration data in memory, Redis, PostgreSQL, or static JSON/YAML files. The server is designed for high availability with no single point of failure and includes programmable routing, load‑balancing against media servers, session affinity, and multi‑tenant domain access control.

The project is packaged as a self‑hostable Docker image and provides a Helm chart for Kubernetes deployments, making it cloud‑ready and easy to scale. Management can be performed through a gRPC API, a command‑line tool, or a web‑based GUI, and developers can extend functionality with a Node SDK, custom processors, and RTPEngine middleware. Authentication for web phones is supported via JWT, and future enhancements include region‑based routing and STIR/SHAKEN support.

Routr is released under the MIT license, is classified as stable, and is maintained as an open‑source project with community channels on GitHub Discussions and Discord. Documentation, examples, and sponsor support are provided to facilitate rapid deployment of VoIP networks.
