The application provides a macOS client for the Shadowsocks proxy protocol, using the `ss-local` binary from shadowsocks‑libev (version 3.2.5) as a background service managed by launchd. It offers a Swift‑based graphical interface that lets users configure server profiles, import them via QR code, URL, or clipboard, and share them similarly. The client can retrieve and update a PAC file from the GFW List, apply custom PAC rules, and operate in a manual mode where system proxy settings are left unchanged, allowing per‑application SOCKS5 configuration.

Additional capabilities include support for SIP003 plugins and bundled third‑party tools such as `kcptun`, `simple‑obfs`, and `v2ray‑plugin`. The client also integrates an HTTP proxy through Privoxy and supports AEAD ciphers defined by the Shadowsocks specification. The software runs on macOS 10.12 or later and requires Xcode 12.5.1+ and CocoaPods 1.10.1+ for building from source. It is released under GPLv3 and maintained as an open‑source, free‑tier project.
