SIPCAPTURE Homer

SIPCAPTURE Homer

Troubleshooting and monitoring VoIP calls.

HOMER provides a packet and event observability framework for VoIP and real‑time communications, ingesting SIP, RTP/RTCP, RTC events and custom protocols via the HEP/EEP encapsulation. It captures signaling and media packets, transforms them into logs, metrics and traces, and stores them without a traditional SQL database, relying on standard observability APIs such as qryn. The system supports stand‑alone capture servers and agents on any operating system, enabling real‑time search, correlation and drill‑down across large volumes of traffic.

The platform is aimed at voice network operators, VoIP service providers, large enterprises and traffic carriers that need scalable monitoring and troubleshooting of their communication infrastructure. It integrates with common visualization tools like Grafana and can ingest additional data sources such as syslog, CDRs and QoS reports, allowing dynamic mapping and correlation of internal and external metrics.

HOMER is released under the AGPL‑3.0 license, is self‑hostable, free‑tier and subscription‑free, and maintains backward compatibility with earlier HEPv3 formats. It is considered stable and is supported by an active community through Matrix, mailing lists and public presentations.
