SSH Config Editor
Tool for managing the OpenSSH ssh client configuration file
SSH Config Editor provides a graphical interface for editing the OpenSSH client configuration and known‑hosts files on macOS. It replaces manual text editing with searchable host entries, grouping, drag‑and‑drop reordering, and icons that indicate common services and operating systems. Users can define identities, set per‑host identity files, and configure local or remote port forwarding, with visual cues and clipboard‑copyable SSH commands.
The application integrates with macOS features such as Spotlight, allowing hosts to be launched directly from the system search or scripted via AppleScript/JavaScript. Templates enable rapid creation of similar host configurations, while notes and comments appear as tooltips for quick reference. A menu‑bar icon offers shortcuts to favorite connections and supports automatic login using securely stored passwords.
A Pro‑only keys manager aggregates system and Secure Enclave keys, displays detailed key information, and can import public keys from external managers. It also generates RSA, DSA, ECDSA, and Ed25519 key pairs, stores them securely, and can copy public keys to remote servers. Known‑hosts management includes searching, marking authorities or revocations, and commenting out obsolete entries.
