Vimr
Refined Vim Experience for OS X.
VimR is a macOS‑native graphical front‑end for Neovim written in Swift. It embeds the Neovim core inside a Cocoa application, exposing the editor’s modal editing model while adding typical GUI conveniences such as a tab bar, workspace handling and native macOS window behavior. The project is organized as a set of reusable Swift packages—NvimView for embedding the editor, NvimApi for synchronous and asynchronous communication with Neovim, and additional components for tabs, workspace management and common utilities—allowing developers to incorporate parts of VimR into their own applications.
The software targets developers who prefer Neovim’s functionality but want a more integrated macOS experience, including support for macOS 13.0 or later and the ability to run pre‑built universal binaries. Its modular architecture and Swift‑based implementation make it suitable for users interested in extending or customizing the editor through Swift packages.
VimR is open source, free to use, and distributed under a permissive license. It is actively maintained, with stable releases and a community chat room for discussion and support.
