ZeroBrane Studio

ZeroBrane Studio is a lightweight, cross‑platform IDE for Lua development that runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. It offers syntax highlighting, auto‑completion for functions, keywords and custom APIs, and a project view with automatic refresh. An integrated console lets users evaluate Lua snippets locally or remotely, while the built‑in debugger supports both local and remote debugging, including on‑device sessions for a range of Lua engines.

The IDE includes live‑coding capabilities that provide immediate feedback when editing scripts for frameworks such as LÖVE, Corona, Gideros and Moai. It also supports Markdown‑formatted comments and interactive learning materials, making it suitable for beginners and for teaching Lua. A bundled set of popular Lua libraries (luasocket, luafilesystem, luasec, lpeg) is pre‑compiled for Lua 5.1‑5.4 and LuaJIT on all supported platforms.

ZeroBrane Studio is extensible through more than fifty community‑contributed packages and offers multilingual documentation and interface translations.
