FileBot

Tool for organising and renaming movies, TV shows, anime or music

Visit

The application automates the organization and renaming of media files such as movies, TV series, anime, and music. It matches local files against online databases (TheMovieDB, TheTVDB, AniDB) and can retrieve artwork, cover images, and subtitles, applying the results in seconds. Users may keep a simple naming scheme—compatible with Plex, Kodi, Jellyfin, or other media servers—or define custom patterns, with support for MediaInfo and ID3/AcoustID tags for music.

A graphical interface allows drag‑and‑drop of files, selection of a data source, and execution of batch rename operations, while a command‑line interface and built‑in scripting engine enable automated workflows and remote execution. Additional utilities include subtitle preview, encoding fixes, format conversion, and hash‑based verification (SFV, MD5, SHA‑1, SHA‑256). The tool also supports renaming photos via EXIF metadata and arbitrary files through custom pattern matching or AI prompts.

The software is distributed for macOS, offers native installers, and maintains a history that lets users revert renames. It is positioned as a stable, comprehensive solution for users who need to keep large media collections consistently named and enriched with metadata.
