Renamer

Renamer is a desktop utility that lets users rename large numbers of files in a single operation on both macOS and Windows. It supports a wide range of renaming actions such as sequential or random numbering, find‑and‑replace, case conversion, and insertion of metadata like EXIF dates, GPS tags, or ID3 music information. Users can also apply regular expressions, change extensions, or import rename rules from a CSV file.

The application organizes these actions into reusable workflows, called Renamerlets, and includes many built‑in presets for common tasks. A live preview shows the resulting filenames before changes are applied, and an undo feature with file backup protects against accidental data loss. An AI‑driven assistant can suggest rename rules based on a brief description, with all processing performed locally.

Renamer targets people who need to manage extensive file collections—photographers, musicians, developers, and anyone handling bulk file organization—by providing a flexible, script‑free interface for complex batch renaming. It runs on macOS 15 (Sequoia) and later, as well as Windows 10 and newer.
