FolioSort
Auto-sort photos into folders by EXIF, GPS & date - Mac
FolioSort is a macOS utility that rearranges photos, videos and other files into a hierarchical folder structure based on EXIF metadata, GPS information, and dates. Users drag a source folder, external drive, or SD card into the app, define a template such as {YYYY}/{MM} {Month}/{Camera}, and the software creates the corresponding directories while optionally renaming files with patterns like {YYYYMMDD}_{HHmmss}_{original}. It supports more than fifty file formats, performs checksum‑verified transfers, and offers a full undo for each operation.
The tool also includes a Google Photos Takeout Organizer that merges JSON sidecar files with media to restore missing dates, GPS data and live‑photo metadata. Smart folder templates, regex‑based mass rename, and event time‑block sorting let photographers, creators and anyone with large media libraries automate organization without manual entry. Cloud and NAS locations are recognized, and the app verifies integrity of moved files.
Designed as an alternative to PhotoMove, FolioSort targets users who need rapid, batch‑level restructuring of chaotic media collections. It provides preset profiles, integrity checks, and the ability to preview actions before execution, aiming to turn years of unsorted files into an orderly library in seconds.
