AiderDesk

Desktop GUI for Aider AI pair programming

AiderDesk provides a desktop graphical interface that orchestrates the Aider AI pair‑programming tool while keeping the developer in full control of the workflow. It presents every token, context file and proposed edit, allowing users to approve, modify, or reject changes before they are written to disk. The platform integrates with existing IDEs, terminals and Git workflows, acting as a non‑intrusive layer rather than a replacement.

The application organizes work into Projects and Tasks, using isolated Git worktrees so multiple features or bugs can be tackled concurrently without affecting the main branch. Users can duplicate, fork, or delete chat messages to curate the AI’s memory, and they can pin documentation or code symbols to steer the model’s focus. A vector‑based context engine loads only the relevant files, and a built‑in diff viewer supports side‑by‑side or unified inspection of changes.

Additional capabilities include configurable approval gates for shell commands, sub‑agents that can invoke multiple models, and a history of task execution that can be reviewed or rolled back. AiderDesk is targeted at professional software engineers who need transparent, controllable AI assistance without disrupting their established toolchain.
