Kern

Kern is a polyphonic software synthesizer plug‑in that runs on Windows and macOS in multiple formats (VST2, VST3, CLAP, AU, AAX). It is written in native C++ for high performance and low CPU load, and it is intended to be operated primarily with MIDI keyboard controllers, offering full MIDI‑CC and MIDI‑Learn control of every parameter.

The instrument provides up to 64 voices with portamento, two band‑limited oscillators with hard sync, and a four‑pole zero‑delay feedback low‑pass filter available in two types. Modulation options include two envelopes, an LFO, and a chorus effect, while additional features such as MTS‑ESP micro‑tuning support and a resizable user interface are also included.

Kern’s design emphasizes streamlined workflow for hardware controllers, and it ships with a large set of factory presets. It is available as both resizable and fixed‑size interfaces, and binaries are supplied for Intel and ARM macOS as well as 32‑ and 64‑bit Windows systems.
