NAPS2
Document scanning application
NAPS2 provides a straightforward interface for scanning physical documents and saving them as digital files. It supports a range of scanner drivers, including WIA and TWAIN, and works with flatbed units as well as automatic document feeders that offer duplex scanning. Users can adjust settings such as DPI, page size, and bit depth, then export scans directly to PDF, TIFF, JPEG, or PNG formats.
The application includes basic image editing tools, allowing pages to be rotated, cropped, deskewed, and reordered via drag‑and‑drop. An integrated OCR engine can recognize text in over a hundred languages, making the resulting PDFs searchable. NAPS2 is available in more than forty languages and can share scanners across a local network, turning any connected device into a wireless scanner.
For advanced workflows, NAPS2 offers a command‑line interface and a .NET SDK, enabling automation and integration into larger systems. It can be deployed via MSI installers or portable archives, and supports group‑policy configuration for business environments. The software is free, open source, and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
