noTunes
Simple application that will prevent iTunes or Apple Music from launching
The application runs on macOS and intercepts attempts to launch iTunes or Apple Music, preventing those programs from opening while it is active. It operates from a menu‑bar icon that can be left‑clicked to toggle the blocking behavior on or off, allowing users to quickly enable or disable the restriction without leaving the current workflow.
Installation is available via a direct zip download or through Homebrew as a cask, and the app can be configured to start automatically at login using the system’s Login Items settings. Users may also hide the menu‑bar icon, restore it later, or quit the app through the icon or standard macOS tools.
An optional replacement feature lets users specify an alternative application or URL that will launch when iTunes or Apple Music is blocked, enabling custom redirects such as another music service or a web page. The project is released under the MIT License and is considered stable.
