Pterodactyl

Management panel for game servers, with an intuitive UI for end users.

It provides a web‑based control panel for deploying and managing game servers. The system runs each server inside an isolated Docker container, exposing a graphical interface built with PHP, React and Go. Users can start, stop, configure and monitor servers through the UI, while the platform handles security with bcrypt hashing, AES‑256‑CBC encryption and HTTPS support out of the box.

The software targets individuals, hosting providers and communities that need to run multiple game instances such as Minecraft, Rust, Terraria, Team Fortress 2, Counter‑Strike : Global Offensive and many others. Community‑contributed “nests” extend support to additional titles and even Discord bots, allowing a single installation to serve a wide variety of games without installing extra dependencies on the host.

Pterodactyl is self‑hostable, free‑tier and does not require a subscription. It is released under the MIT license, making the code fully open source and modifiable. The project emphasizes security, modern tooling and scalability, aiming to treat game servers as first‑class citizens on any platform.
