ReadAny
AI-powered e-book reader with semantic search, chat, and note management.
ReadAny is a desktop e‑book reader that integrates AI capabilities for interactive reading. It lets users chat with the content, ask questions, request summaries, explore themes, and obtain instant translations using providers such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Ollama, and DeepSeek. The application also offers semantic search across the library, enabling quick retrieval of relevant passages.
In addition to AI‑driven interactions, the software supports annotation and knowledge management. Users can highlight text in five colors, write Markdown notes, and export collections to tools like Obsidian or Notion. Text‑to‑speech is provided via Edge TTS with a wide selection of voices, and reading statistics are visualized through heatmaps, charts, and streak tracking. Cross‑device synchronization works through WebDAV, S3, or LAN, keeping libraries, highlights, and notes consistent across platforms.
The tool targets students, researchers, language learners, professionals, and book‑club participants who need deeper engagement with digital texts. Built with Tauri, React, TypeScript, Rust, and SQLite, it runs on multiple operating systems, stores data locally by default, and is released under GPL‑3.0 as an open‑source, free‑tier project.
