Sonic Lineup
Rapid visualisation of multiple audio files for comparison
Sonic Lineup provides a fast, time‑aligned visual comparison of several audio recordings that share the same underlying structure. Users load multiple files and the program displays their waveforms side by side, synchronised to a common timeline, making it easy to spot differences between takes, performances, or versions of a piece. The tool is intended as a quick visual aid rather than a full‑featured audio editor, and it does not include annotation, measurement, or custom analysis capabilities.
The application is free and open source, running on macOS, Windows, and Linux. It is built by the Centre for Digital Music at Queen Mary, University of London and is part of the Sonic Visualiser family of software. Its focus on rapid visualisation makes it useful for musicians, engineers, and researchers who need to compare multiple recordings of the same work without extensive editing or analysis.
