splash-cli
Beautiful wallpapers from Unsplash.
A command‑line tool that fetches wallpapers from Unsplash and can set them as the desktop background. It supports selecting images by day, search query, orientation, collection, topic, or user, and can retrieve a specific photo by its Unsplash ID. The utility also offers commands for managing collection aliases, authenticating with Unsplash, and performing CRUD operations on collections, as well as generating shell completion scripts.
The program is intended for users who prefer a lightweight, terminal‑based workflow for obtaining high‑quality background images without a graphical interface. It works on macOS (with screen‑specific wallpaper placement) and can be installed via Homebrew, Go, or manual binary download. Required Unsplash API credentials are supplied through environment variables.
Features include optional caching, plain‑text output for scripting, saving images without applying them, and adjusting wallpaper scaling. The source can be built locally with Go tooling, and the binary is named `splash-cli` when installed via Go.
