Tube Archivist

Organize, search, and enjoy your YouTube collection. Subscribe, download, and track viewed content with metadata indexing and a user-friendly interface.

It provides a self‑hosted web interface for managing a personal YouTube archive. Users can subscribe to channels, download videos through yt‑dlp, and store the files locally. The system indexes each video with YouTube metadata, enabling full‑text search, playback, and tracking of watched versus unwatched items.

The application is packaged for Docker and can run on modest hardware, requiring roughly 2 GB of memory for a small setup and 4 GB for larger collections. Configuration is handled via environment variables, and the stack includes an ElasticSearch component for indexing. Documentation covers installation on Docker, Unraid, Synology, and Podman, as well as API usage.

Additional tools include a browser extension for one‑click archiving and optional plugins for Jellyfin and Plex, allowing the archived videos to be accessed through other media servers. The project is open source under GPL‑3.0, free to use, and maintained by a community of contributors.
