TuxGuitar

TuxGuitar is a free editor and player for multi‑track guitar tablatures. It supports opening files created with Guitar Pro, Power Tab Editor, TablEdit and standard MIDI, allowing users to view, edit, and playback complex arrangements within a single interface. The program runs on Linux, Windows, macOS, FreeBSD and Android, and distributes installation packages for each platform.

The software is maintained by a community that migrated the project to a GitHub repository after the original site and development stalled. Users can access online documentation, discuss issues, and submit bug reports or feature requests through the GitHub discussion and issue trackers. Contributions are welcomed, with guidelines provided in the repository’s documentation folder.

TuxGuitar is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License, and its source code is publicly available on GitHub. Versions 2.0.0 and newer use a new file format, though export to the older format remains possible for compatibility with previous releases.
