UnnaturalScrollWheels

UnnaturalScrollWheels lets macOS users keep the default “Natural” scrolling for trackpads while reversing the direction of physical mouse scroll wheels. The operating mac the separate “Scroll direction” toggles for Mouse and Trackpad affect both devices, so this tool intercepts wheel events, flips their delta values, and disables acceleration to achieve the opposite behavior without altering trackpad settings.

The app runs as a background service with a menu‑bar icon and requires accessibility permission to control the computer, which it uses to modify scroll events in real time. Preferences can be opened by relaunching the application, allowing users to adjust settings and temporarily reveal the menu‑bar icon.

Installation is available via Homebrew cask or by downloading a signed DMG, after which the user copies the app to the Applications folder and grants the requested accessibility access. The solution works on macOS Catalina and later.
