XCTU

XCTU is a free, cross‑platform graphical tool that lets developers interact with Digi XBee and other RF modules. It provides a visual network view that shows device topology and signal strength, allowing users to set up, configure, and test wireless links without extensive command‑line work. The application also includes an API frame builder and interpreter, which simplify creating and decoding the binary frames required for XBee communication in API mode.

The software supports managing multiple devices, including remote over‑the‑air updates, and handles firmware upgrades while preserving module settings and automatically adjusting mode and baud rate. Separate consoles for API and AT commands let users communicate directly with radios, and sessions can be saved and loaded on different machines.

XCTU runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and bundles utilities such as a frames generator and interpreter that operate even when no RF hardware is connected. It is aimed at developers building, deploying, and maintaining XBee‑based wireless networks.
