FineTune

FineTune runs from the macOS menu bar and lets users adjust the volume of each running application independently, offering boost options up to four times the normal level. It also supports routing audio from individual apps to different output devices, and can send sound to multiple speakers at once. The interface displays sliders for mute, gain presets, and lets users pin or ignore specific apps for persistent or excluded control.

Audio shaping is provided through a 10‑band equalizer with twenty preset configurations across five categories, plus the ability to create and save custom EQ profiles per app. Headphone correction is available via an extensive library of headphone response files or user‑imported parametric EQ data, and loudness compensation adjusts bass and treble according to ISO 226:2023 equal‑loudness contours.

Additional system features include microphone level monitoring, control of macOS alert volumes, and a device inspector that shows sample rates, transport information, and allows software‑volume overrides when hardware controls are ineffective. Devices can be prioritized, hidden, or automatically restored after reconnection, and the app is free, open‑source, and compatible with macOS 15 and later.
