Mealie

Material design inspired recipe manager with category and tag management, shopping-lists, meal-planner, and site customizations. Mealie is focused on simple user interactions to keep the whole family using the app.

Mealie provides a self‑hosted platform for storing, organizing, and planning recipes. Users can add new entries manually or by importing from a URL, with the built‑in scraper extracting ingredients and instructions automatically. Recipes can be grouped into cookbooks, tagged, and categorized, while a markdown‑enabled editor allows detailed formatting.

The application includes a meal‑planning interface that lets families schedule dishes for any time horizon, and a shopping‑list feature that aggregates required ingredients and sorts them into supermarket sections. Multi‑user support with groups enables shared access, and webhooks can push daily meal‑plan data to external services.

A REST API and interactive documentation expose all backend functionality, allowing integration with third‑party tools. The system runs in Docker containers, offers automatic backups in customizable formats, and is translated into more than thirty languages. It is released under the MIT license, is free to use, and requires no subscription.
