OmegaT

Translation memory tool

Visit

OmegaT is a Java‑based translation memory application designed for professional translators. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux and supports more than thirty file formats, including Microsoft Office documents, OpenDocument files, HTML/XHTML, MediaWiki, and plain text. The program stores previously translated segments and reuses them through fuzzy matching, match propagation, and simultaneous processing of multi‑file projects, allowing translators to leverage existing work across several projects and memories.

The tool includes user glossaries that recognize inflected forms, an integral Hunspell‑based spelling checker, full Unicode support for various scripts, and right‑to‑left language handling. It can exchange data with other translation memory systems via standard formats such as TMX, TTX, TXML, XLIFF, and SDLXLIFF, and it offers optional interfaces to machine‑translation or neural‑machine‑translation services.

OmegaT is free and open source, permitting unrestricted use, redistribution, and modification. Its stable release is intended for translators who need efficient, script‑based assistance without built‑in machine translation, while providing extensibility through community‑contributed plugins and documentation.
