Gitfox is a native macOS client that provides a graphical interface for managing Git repositories. It lets users compare any pair of branches, tags, or commits with an advanced diff view, and offers full‑text search across the commit history. The application supports granular staging of individual lines or hunks, interactive rebase operations, and built‑in bisect tools, all accessible through a point‑and‑click UI or custom keyboard shortcuts.

The client integrates with popular remote services such as GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket, allowing users to create, list, and clone cloud repositories directly. It includes features for conflict resolution, multiple committer identities, and a link manager for embedding clickable URLs in commit messages. Additional utilities like a quick‑action palette, drag‑and‑drop handling of commits, branches, and tags, and markdown rendering of repository READMEs further streamline workflow.

Gitfox also works with external mergetools—including Kaleidoscope, Visual Studio Code, Araxis Merge, Meld, and Beyond Compare—while providing background fetching and notifications for repository changes.
